![]() It’s a predominantly dark new Twisted Sister album that is being written to go with the Christmas album. There are song titles like ‘Another Christmas In Hell’, ‘Death May Be Your Santa Claus’, ‘Raising Hell'… there are a lot of ‘Hell’ songs. Most of the material reflects the ‘dark side’ because there is this whole battle going on onstage between the heavy metal band wanting to be a metal band and bursting into Christmas songs (for reasons that’ll make a lot of sense when you hear what the story is about). So, we started writing new material for the musical that we’re going to start rehearsing and recording and it’ll be released on an album that will be a companion piece to the Christmas album. Eight of the songs are from the Christmas album, four or five are existing Twisted Sister material (like 'We’re Not Going To Take It'), but now I need more music written specifically for the musical (which is about a fictitious heavy metal band). That all said this Christmas album we did is taking on a life of its own, it was our biggest selling record since the ‘80s and I’ve written a full blown musical that contains eighteen songs. So, I’m not doing that and I believe in giving the people what they want and they want the old stuff. What’s more insulting than that? You try to rock it out, but you see people going to get a burger and a beer. “You see people standing up when you say the words ‘this is a song from our new album'. In fact, I think I’ll write a song called, 'Bathroom Song', says the energetic Snider as the coffee kicks in. Will there be new music to go with this film? “I’ve always said that I have no motivation to write new music because when you play it live it becomes the bathroom song. It’s going to happen and my goal was always to have multiple films, but here I am ten years later hoping we go into production at the end of the year on number two.” It’s the nature of it, but you got to start the roller coaster real high to get to that point were the characters are comedic and people are cheering for them rather than being afraid of them. Where is the new horror? Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles – that’s me! I realized I had a guy, Captain Howdy and once I came upon Captain Howdy I saw him as an iconic franchise type figure and that people would want to see 'Strangeland 7 In 3D: This Time It’s Personal And We’re Not Kidding'. ![]() I’m in my kitchen screaming ‘kick it, kick it’. “Cut to 1989,’ he continues, “ I was living in Florida and I was watching Chucky and thinking ‘what is this shit? It’s a fucking doll'. Tom Werman heard the songs and really wanted them to be on the Stay Hungry album,” he says when asked if there will be more sequels. “My vision for Captain Howdy was to write a rock opera. The acting was something I did just for the hell of it.” “I did Captain Howdy because I knew I could do it and I thought it would be fun, but what I enjoyed more was writing and producing to acting. “Absolutely,” exclaims Dee when asked if he wants to write movies for others and not have to be an actor in the project. ![]() I’m very confident that we’ll sell it to somebody because we will have built a following and awareness of the movie then we will do an R version for the multiplexes and the mainstream,” and adds jokingly, “by the time it gets to DVD – it’ll be Disney with animated characters and it’ll come in a lunchbox.” It built this real cult thing and then it went wide. The Exorcist was originally shown only in New York and L.A. Our hope is that the value of the movie will be shown to distributors and people are going to want to buy it. “We have a nice budget and we’re making the movie NC-17 and our plan is to do event showings around the country. ![]() “We don’t know,” says Snider when asked if this will be a straight to DVD or theatrical release. I was going to put a sign up that said ‘if you have ten million dollars and want to make a movie – give me a call’." Has the script changed since then the singer is asked, “The story is the same, I wrote it, and I finally said I’m done. I had lawyers on retainer for eight years, but finally I got the rights to Strangeland back.” Inside those doors was Strangeland 2 and eight years go by while the courts are untangling this corporate scandal bullshit thing. “Strangeland 2 was green lit in 1998, but the CFO of the company did an ‘Enron’ and was arrested for cooking the books and they shut the company down, seized all the property, and chained the doors. ![]() “I wrote, am starring in and produced Strangeland: Disciple,” begins the venerable lead singer. Dee recently sat down with BW&BK to discuss his return to Strangeland and to give a quick update on the goings-on with Twisted Sister. Legendary TWISTED front man, Dee Snider, might still ‘wanna rock’, but his latest project, Strangeland: Disciple, is the much-anticipated follow-up to his 1988 Strangeland film. ![]()
